Preview: Eintracht Frankfurt set for second pre-season friendly

Eintracht Frankfurt will play their second friendly of the US Tour in Louisville today at 7:30 p.m. local time (01:30 a.m. CET). The Eagles will face local club Louisville City FC at their home ground, the Lynn Family Stadium. You can watch the game on DAZN, Sky or EintrachtTV+ (all require a paid subscription).

Team news

Aside from Kauã Santos and Tuta, who are obviously still out due to injuries, only Nene Brown will certainly miss the match against Louisville. Elye Wahi and Ellyes Skhiri remain doubtful, having both left training early yesterday due to knee issues.. Other than that, Toppmöller’s whole squad is fit and ready to play. Here’s how Eintracht could line up:

Burkardt

Uzun - Aaronson - Knauff

Chaibi - Larsson

Theate - Amenda - Koch - Kristensen

Trapp

What to expect

Above all, Eintracht Frankfurt will look to continue their high and intense pressing game. They’re expected to dominate possession against a considerably weaker opponent. Hopefully, we’ll also see some goals – and our first convincing win of this pre-season. In our last meeting with Louisville City, one year ago, we beat them 4-0. Jonathan Burkardt, who has recovered from a cold, could score his first goal in an Eintracht shirt.

Who are Louisville City?

Louisville City play in the USL Championship, the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Currently sitting in second place of the Eastern Conference, they’re one of the strongest teams in their division. The quality of their squad is comparable to a below-average team in the German 3. Liga. However, we can expect to see a well-structured team, playing with a lot of confidence. LouCity, as the locals like to call them, are in the middle of their regular season and suffered just one loss in their last nine matches. In their most recent match – a cup game against rivals Lexington SC – Louisville won the match in a remarkable last minute comeback, scoring in the first and seventh minute of extra time.
